A QUICK INTRODUCTION

Hi!

My name is Stéphane and I come from Grenoble in the French Alps. While still attached to the mountains, I worked as a marine geologist-petrologist. In this personal webpage you will find detailed information about my research and other activities I was involved in. Enjoy the tour and feel free to contact me if I can be of any help!

MY RESEARCH

My research was linked to the formation of the oceanic lithosphere at slow- and ultraslow-spreading ridges as a result of the interplay between magmatic, tectonic, and hydrothermal processes.

I focused on the interaction between seawater-derived hydrothermal fluids and the rocks that are exhumed in the footwall of detachment faults (large offset normal faults) along the ridge axis.

In particular, I studied the hydration of mantle peridotites leading to the so-called serpentinization reactions. I was also curious about the mafic lithologies that intrude these peridotites.

My approach was to conduct petrological studies on natural samples. I based the work on microstructural observations (structures such as textures or fractures) and added constraints derived from mineralogical assemblages, geochemistry (in-situ and bulk rock, major and trace elements, oxygen isotopes).
